dns-root-data software package provides DNS root data including root zone and DNSSEC key, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install dns-root-data
dns-root-data is installed in your system.
Make ensure the dns-root-data package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep dns-root-data *
You will get with dns-root-data package name, version, architecture and description in a table
